Class Descriptions.

Florida Fitness offers an extensive selection of premium Group Exercise classes for our Members.  We offer the greatest variety in class type and levels and host some of the best instructors in the city! 

Group Exercise classes are included with all memberships.  Specialty classes may be included for a nominal additional fee (Pilates, Group Cycling and Aqua Fitness).

GROUP EX 101

Designed for individuals who are new to Group Exercise. Basic choreography patterns will be taught progressively including forms of Hi/Lo impact, Step, Cardio Kickboxing and Boot Camp Intervals. This class will be concluded with a Body Sculpting segment to target major muscle groups, improve your posture and range of motion.

STEP & SCLUPT

A combination of step & body sculpting exercises for a total body workout. Step combinations improve cardiovascular strength, conditioning and endurance. The body sculpting segment offers a unique combination of strength training exercises using hand weights to improve body tone and increase strength.

EXTREME STEP

This class is an intense, fast paced, fun and exciting step class with superior dance based choreography using
an adjustable platform. This high intensity class is followed by stretching.

STEP IT UP

Choreography is fun & uncomplicated. Beginners and advanced steppers will find something in this class with
lots of intensity options. Get ready to step as we challenge you with the ultimate workout.

CARDIO PUMP

Need a break from cardio machines? Spice things up and join us for a fun filled hour of cardio variety! Run, power walk and step your workout up to the next level! All fitness levels are welcome.

SKIP CIRCUIT

Skip a minute then pump for a minute, if you like variety and a high paced class, this is for you! Skip circuit is an interval training class alternating between cardio bursts of skipping and muscle strengthening stations for 60-90 seconds. Each station is set up to focus on targeting a different muscle group.

DIESEL FIT

Get pumped with weights, boxing, calisthenics, plyometrics, speed drills and anything else we can throw at you. Come prepared to sweat and blow off some steam! This total-body interval style class is for the intermeidate to advanced levels.

CARDIO EXPRESS

Get 45 minutes of heart pumpin' cardio along with Warm-Up and Cool Down. Come join us for the ultimate express workout to keep you moving!

BOOT CAMP

Want an intense workout? A disciplined military circuit training using weights, intervals and drills to sculpt and chisel your body followed by muscle focused stretching. Harcore, no-nonsense fat burning workout!

ATHLETIC TRAINING

Designed for the athlete in all of us! Station to station, this high impact & intense class will train you to challenge yourself while improving speed, agility and power - the essential components to be the best athlete you can be!

FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH & CORE STABILITY         ^ Top

FIT

Functional Integrated Training focuses on posture, core strength, balance and total body definition. Come learn how to connect your mind, upper, middle and lower body core in each exercise.

SLEEK & STRONG

This body sculpt class will strengthen, tone and target all muscle groups. From planks, leg raises and pushups, to working your abdominals and lower body core, you will chisel your body and develop, long, lean and strong muscles.

TOTAL BALL

The ultimate CORE workout to see great results! This class focuses on full body strength using stability balls for
a greater challenge. Come improve your balance, core stability and coordination!

FUNCTIONAL CORE Experience an intense, rock solid ABS workout to achieve the results you want! This class is a perfect compliment
to your cardio routine.
INDOOR GROUP CYCLING (Schwinn)         ^ Top

CYCLE EXPRESS

Come enjoy a 45 minute ride as you de-stress in the middle of your work day. Challenging sequence intervals of aerobic and anaerobic peaks will be taught throughout. Warning: This class is the ultimate power lunch!

INTERVAL CYCLE

Challenging times sequences of aerobic and anaerobic training will be taught throughout the class with high speed intervals and recovery set to your favorite tunes played loud enough to push you to the final home stretch!

PLATINUM CYCLE

This advanced 60 minute class challenges rider’s endurance and toughness. Exercise components include intervals of out-of-the saddle riding, jumps & sprints. Beginners please speak with the instructor prior to class.

MARTIAL ARTS         ^ Top

PRESTIGE
KICK BOXING

A uniquely structured strength, technique and cardio exercises that are the focus of this challenging martial arts conditioning class developed by John Dimanche! This class incorporates kickboxing training aids. Exclusive to Florida Fitness.

ELITE BOXING Upper body boxing workout to music incorporating gloves, boxing pads, skipping ropes, training bags and medicine balls. This class emphasizes a strong focus on proper boxing and sparring techniques
CARDIO KICK Very high energy cardio workout incorporating selected safe martial arts moves to blast your body!
LIQUID        ^ Top

LIQUID ENERGY

This high energy program is designed to challenge the body and mind through a combination of cardio and muscular strength choreography. This class will boost your energy level & strengthen target muscle groups.

LIQUID BOOT CAMP

Designed to develop a high level of cardiovascular strength and endurance through challenging choreography routines, intervals and higher intensity options. This Platinum intensity class will keep your heart rate and pace up throughout the class as you learn in aerobic and anaerobic zones. Definite challenge for veterans!

LIQUID ABS

Come experience an alternative to your regular abs workout! Experience challenging cardio routines that will strengthen and tone your abdominals and back using the resistance principles of a full liquid workout in the pool.
SPIRIT, MIND & BODY         ^ Top

HATHA YOGA

This program develops and integrates the body, mind & spirit. Focus on posture, flexibility, balance, strength and mental relaxation. Come relieve your stress and reduce the risk of injury!

POWER YOGA

 

This program allows participants of all levels to be lead through a class of strong, challenging postures and pacing. Be prepared to explore your limits physically, mentally and spiritually!

PILATES

 

This class emphasizes movement, body alignment and breathing. Enhance your muscular balance, posture, flexibility and overall core strength!

PILATES & YOGA FUSION This class incorporates traditional Pilates and Yoga exercises with athletic training moves to provide a workout that will improve core strength, balance and flexibility. A great combo- compliments any routine!

WOMAN'S ONLY SWIM

This swim time is offered exclusively to women in conjunction with our Women’s only facility.

VITALITY SWIM

 

Come relax, recuperate and stay active in our quiet state of the art swimming pool. This swim time is offered
exclusively to older adults who enjoy quality swim time and a chance to meet new friends.

LANE SWIM

 

This time is reserved for those serious about their aquatic exercise and want uninterrupted lane time.

OLDER ADULT SPECIFIC PROGRAMMING         ^ Top

VITALITY SWIM

Come relax, recuperate and stay active in our quiet state of the art swimming pool. This swim time is offered exclusively to older adults who enjoy a quality swim time and a chance to meet new friends.

LIQUID GOLD*

This class is designed to meet the needs of our older adults. This class will emphasize the importance of core stability and maintaining a low impact workout. Light to moderate cardio, strength & endurance, stretching and flexibility exercises will be trained every class.

TAI CHI* Come experience the way of supreme harmony, as you learn how to allow your body to open up, relax your muscles so that your body’s 6 chakras are balanced. A great modern form of relaxation- a perfect compliment to de-stress your body and your mind!

SENIOR STRENGTH, BALANCE, FLEXIBILITY

This one hour exercise class focuses on improving balance, posture, flexibility and muscular strength. Equipment is provided and yearly registration is $15. The goal is to promote healthy living and enhance safety and independence for participants. This class is made possible by a partnership between Ottawa Public Health, St. Laurent Centre, Florida Fitness and group of dedicated volunteers. LIQUID PROGRAMS         ^ Top

LIQUID GOLD*

This class is designed to meet the needs of our older adults. This class will emphasize the importance of core stability and maintaining a low impact workout. Light to moderate cardio, strength & endurance, stretching and flexibility exercises will be trained every class.

LIQUID KICK BOX*

A high intensity class incorporating the NEW WAVE moves of aqua kickboxing, martial arts and self defense. This class will help develop your body, mind and soul as proper technique and form are used as a strong discipline of the class. A definite class to help you achieve your fitness goals!

LIQUID PILATES*

This low impact program is designed to strengthen up your stretching movements through yoga, modern dance and gymnastics. Increase your body’s able to use its full range of motion while stabilizing and isolating each muscle group. An ideal choice for individuals rehabilitating from illness, injury or limited mobility.

WATER VOLLEYBALL*

Are you super competitive… or enjoy getting some action? Come join our Water Volleyball League and burn off 210 calories per half hour played. Highly equipped with our professional mesh net and extra soft water volleyballs.

HOT MAMAS*

Are you a new mom or a mom to be? If so, this class is for you! Come experience a complete workout of low impact cardio, body sculpting and flexibility. Involve your baby in your workout: babies are in the aerobics studio with their
moms learning progressive ways to an improved lifestyle. Play Care hours are also available during this class.

TKF - TOTAL KIDS FITNESS*

 

A new, cutting edge, efficient and exiting way to achieve a full mind and body conditioning experience for kids (ages 5 to 12 years).
